The event organized on Saturday, September 5th as a nationwide Entrepreneur Day gathered approximately 80 participants in the foyer of the Warkaus Hall at Tempoon. The evening provided a buzz of conversation, familiar faces, new faces, and valuable feedback for the development of the city.

The Entrepreneurial Day dinner has already become a long-standing tradition in Varkaus. The event, initiated by the City of Varkaus and Navitas Development, brings together entrepreneurs from various fields, city management, and those responsible for developing vitality each year.

The purpose of the event is first and foremost to thank the entrepreneurs for their work towards the vitality and future of Varkaus.

Alongside the joint dinner and short speeches, there was plenty of room for networking and free discussion. Starting in early September as the mayor of Varkaus, Henri Tanskanen At the same time, he was able to introduce himself to the entrepreneur community and hear firsthand what the city's business sector has to offer.

"Everything is close by" is Varkaus's advantage

During the evening, an open discussion took place about the everyday life of companies, the factors that attract business to the city, and concrete development areas.

The entrepreneurs summed up Varkaus’ strengths as its location, suitable size and community spirit. In their responses, they praised the fact that people know each other, cooperation works, and services and customers are nearby. On the other hand, the entrepreneurs hoped for a more direct dialogue with the city, stronger visibility of businesses in the city’s communications, joint marketing, and transparency in procurement.

City Vitality Director and Navitas Development CEO Markus Vesterisen According to them, the discussions at the dinner serve as an important mirror and reminder of the Warkaus vitality promise made in June.

– Many of the themes that have been identified as important in the vitality promise were repeated in the speeches. This confirms that we are on the right track. At the same time, we received a lot of concrete development ideas from the entrepreneurs, which will help take our joint work forward, Vesterinen states.
